d&c

On October 05 we went to the obgyn for a routine appt. The nurse tried to hear the baby's heartbeat with a sonogram but was having problems doing so she 'snuck' us in to do an ultrasound. She was having some issues and could hardly see the baby (which was supposed to be double the size that it was 2 weeks ago) so she wanted us to wait for the ultrasound tech and get an ultrasound by the tech to make sure everything was ok. She finally got there and the first red flag was when the baby measured 10 weeks and 6 days (should have been 11 weeks and 1 day). Needless to say, they couldn't find a heartbeat and gave us the options of letting my body naturally miscarriage or have a d&c. We voted for a d&c in the labor and delivery so that we could get it done the next day... everything went fine and now I'm trying to heal up physically and we are both trying to heal emotionally.

Hopefully I won't be gone from here long.... we miss and love our little baby and are never going to forget him/her....

Happy Birthday Asher! :)

So, not much is going on with me...  haven't been feeling so hot on and off the past week, and counting down the weeks until week 14!  Next doc appt is on tuesday, the 5th, first time actually seeing a doctor...  Bump is growing a bit...  around the 13th I'll take another pic and post the ones I have on facebook...

but the biggest news is that Brielle and Matt had their baby!!!!  Asher David Coppel was born at 3:15p on October 01, 2010...  a 9 lb 1 oz, 22 1/4 inch long bundle of adorable!!  I'm so excited that I get to actually meet him in just over a month!!!!!  And can't wait to hear the horror stories of childbirth a mere 7 months away from my own experience, I'm sure :)  So happy for them!!!

1st Ultrasound

Today we went in for our first ultrasound...  absolutely amazing :)  found out that I was right and baby brew is due a lil later than originally thought...  April 25th, 2011.  So I'm only in my 9th week and still squarely in the 1st trimester.  *sigh*  a little disappointing to be set back 2 weeks, but so happy to see that baby brew looks healthy.  couldn't hear the hearbeat, but could see it beating which was neat and saw him/her do a few little wiggles.  too precious :)

1st Doctor's appt

Today was the first doctors appointment...  totally uneventful :)  It was actually a nurse practioner's appointment, but starting at our next appointment we have to see every doctor of the 6 in the practice to meet them all.  The appointment was pretty much just like any other exam and they sent us out to get blood work.  So got lots of blood drawn and then we had to schedule a seperate appointment for the ultrasound.  September 21st!  (during which I may be frantically texting Brielle since this is her due date :))  The nurse said that it seemed too early today to hear a heartbeat, but I would think since the ultrasound is a week and a half away that we may be able to then.  So here on out, we see the doctors every 4 weeks, then 2 weeks then 1 week when it's way closer :)  Oh, and they confirmed April 11th as a due date, we'll see if they stick to it after the first ultrasound :)

Nothing New...

Nothing really new to report, I just felt like I needed to update it a little :)  I'm anxiously counting down until the first appointment...  Who knew that 4 weeks could drag on so slowly???  I really just want to find out how far along I really am and maybe hear a heartbeat (not really sure if I'll get to, but it would put my mind at ease about anything bad happening for sure).  Oh well, patience is a virtue, I'm told :)  Anyhow, can't really complain about the pregnancy thing so far, just sleepy and hungry!

Day One... For us at least

Today was 'the day'...  well, techincally yesterday was...  but Baby Brew was only a very faint line so this morning was the 'no doubt' day...
I woke up at 4am-ish but convinced myself to go back to sleep so the test would be better...  then I woke up at 6 something since Andrew had left the bedroom alarm set...  I finally realized what it was so I turned it off and ran to the bathroom to take the test....  3 minutes after watching the stupid little hour glass flash, the test said 'pregnant'!
Andrew had fallen asleep on the couch so I ran in there, turned on the lights and jumped on top of him, waving the test around yelling 'I'm pregnant!"...  all I got at that point was a 'I'm Andrew'...  after he woke up a little more, he made fun of me for using the digital test instead of one with lines and the excitement and day full of phone calls began...
